The Annual

Parents & Teachers'

DYSLEXIA Conference

 THEME: "Envisioning an Inclusive Community"

THE IMPORTANCE OF OUR CONFERENCES

A parent-teacher conference is a great opportunity to: share academic progress and growth based on classroom observations, testing data, assessments, portfolios, and assignments. learn from parents or guardians so you can be better informed about students' strengths, needs, behaviors, and learning styles.

For this conference, we aim to focus on the steps, processes and measures that educators and as parents can take to make the learning environment more inclusive to dyslexic students.

TEACHER'S PACE

A lot of times the parents might feel that the teacher is going too fast or too slow., especially when the child has a learning disability.Hence, the parent-teacher meetings can be utilized to communicate to the teacher whether or not they are moving at the right pace.

ACTIVITIES AT HOME

As much as the teachers should inform whether the child is active in class, the parents also need to update the teachers about the same. Sharing what activities the child loves, and what they don’t gives a deep insight to the teacher about the overall personality of the child.

HOME STUDIES

While there is no doubt that the child should focus entirely on studies in school. However, carrying on the same at home during free time or holidays is also crucial. Hence, this information must also be shared by the parents with the teachers.

“a teacher educated about dyslexia can be the one person who saves a child and his/her family from years of frustration and anxiety.  That teacher can play a pivotal role in changing the whole culture of the school”.
